Hey, Eskimos. Allow us to interrupt our regular programme of soapy obsession, heated character discussion, shameless pimping and analyses of Roman Wild’s supposed age (our assumption: 54, he moisturises) for a moment to reflect on the fact that All Is Not Well With The World, and there is currently some Serious Fuckwittage going on in countries that – for mind-boggling and froth-inducing reasons – don’t embrace their Gay Boys (And Girls) With Issues as fervently as we do.
Witness Uganda and its Anti-Homosexuality Bill, which makes Bulle’s attitude towards gays look positively cuddly.
This bill, which could pass by the end of the month, would essentially deprive Uganda’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender population of its human rights and make the real counterparts of the relationships and connections that we celebrate daily on EKP, the stuff that makes us relate and squee and obsess, punishable by harsh prison sentences and even death.
This shit is not on.
AWZ actors Dennis Grabosch and Ulrike Röseberg are deeply concerned about this issue and have asked the Eskimo hordes to firmly oppose this violation of human rights. If you share their stance, please back them up and do what you can to entreat the government of Uganda NOT to pass this bill.
Get the scoop on the issue from Amnesty International. Sign online petitions to stop Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Bill – here are just a few of them:

http://www.truthwinsout.org/blog/2010/02/6978/ (petition by Avaaz.org)
Urge your representatives to condemn this legislation. Get informed, and get your activist Eskimo on.
Taking a stance on this issue will take as much time as voting on the Sexiest Soapstars 2010, or less, and Dennis and Ulrike will appreciate it more. The point of this post is not to harsh the squee or discourage you from the shallow, because let’s face it, we love the shallow
Keep clicking those voting buttons as long as you enjoy it. But if you can spare that time, we hope you can also spare the time to support a cause that is real and desperate, and very close to these actors’ hearts. They’ll appreciate it, as will thousands of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Ugandans, if we can all help to smack this shit down.
This is the 21st century, dudes. The world can do better. Please help make it happen.
Hey sweets – followed the link to the Amnesty International petition and it’s been closed. I think they may have already delivered it. Here are a couple of alternatives. Not sure if they would have the same impact, but every little bit helps, right?

Will also be calling my representatives on Monday to ask them to stand up for gay rights in Uganda and around the world.
Gah, thanks, love. Post updated. And YOU ROCK!!!
Thanks so much for these sites, EKP! And for taking the time to acknowledge this. It means a lot to a lot of people. Should mean a lot to everyone, really, but we take what we can get. And then the rest? We make a fuss till they accept it and acknowledge it (Roman’s advice = too true for words). My friends are going to get their ears bent for the next few weeks with indignant and hopefully action-inducing rants.
Thanks again, guys!
You’re awesome. Thank you so much!
Maybe putting a face to things will help some, too: http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2009/12/nothing-is-more-poignant.html
(The Pet Shop Boys posted this on Twitter a while back. Been following the issue ever since.)
So, come on, fellow hordes! Make your voices heard!
Thanks for the link, love — the “reckless courage” these people have is just overwhelming.
I have another online petition:
http://www.avaaz.org/en/uganda_rights/?vl
Danke… but that’s already linked from the TruthWinsOut blog (it just has an info page explaining the sitch before going to the Avaaz petition).
Thank you so much for doing this. You rock lol !!!!!!!!
*squeeze*
I’d hug you ladies harder but I’m writing my MP. There are no words to describe how brilliant you are!
*activating sparkle powers*
Am posting now. Thanks ladies. (and gentlemen)
Thanks for the heads-up, Lisabea. You just continue to be an awesome ally. *Hugs*
Thanks for covering this girls! I’ve been following this on Rachael Maddow’s show for a while now. Its hard to believe such ignorance & hatred still exists in the world today. Thanks for the links! Its nice to know I can do my part, even in this small way.
Been following this through Afterelton.com and thedailybeast.com for a while now.
Problem is that the major countries are refusing to get officially involved for fear of it being labeled as “Western Interference” in another country’s private issues
As if the slaughter of innocent people can ever be labeled “private”
Yes, Avaaz.org has a petition with over 400,000 signatures on it already. Please sign it today so they can reach their goal of 450,000.

We don’t want to get into petition competition lol, but yes, that’s one of the ones we have linked in our post. Thanks!
Thank you for the links! I will pass this along to anyone that will listen! If anything, making people more aware of this issue will help move us on the right diretion!
Thank you EKP for involving us.I’m in it girls, and my mother too. There are gay right committes here working on petitions and everything. There’s a comission pressuring the government to repudiate it officially and the same’s going on in the other south American countries. Let’s hope this monstruosity won’t be imposed. Signing all the petitions now
thank you ladies i am of course in it,and my dad too.we posted just a minute ago, and we will signing all the others petitions as well and i hope that will stop that S********* as soon as possible
